Hi,
Is there a way to add a category to all contacts in a specific OL contacts
folder?
I would like to avoid opening up 200+ contacts and doing it manually.
Tx a lot for your suggestions.
( I am thinking macro, etc., but really have no clue.)

Select them all. Right-click, and choose Categories. Add the category there.

Export to Excel add the category to the column specified in one cell, then
drag that cell to complete the entire column for the category. Import back
into Outlook.

Hi ?,

switch the folder view to View by Categories, select all contacts and
drag them into the specified category.

I am also trying to copy contacts from one sub-folder to another by dragging
the nouse with the right click button and clicking copy BUT it does NOT copy
over the "Category".
Any tricks to copy over the category?
The contacts already exist in the target folder (and many more) and I choose
the option to update contact with new info--however, again, the category
does not get transferred over.
Any suggestion on how to do that would be great. Tx,
S

First switch the view of your Contacts folder to By Category. If there is
not yet an item with the category you want to add to all the contacts, add
it to one of the contacts. Then select all the other contacts at once and
drag them to the group for the new category.

Just press Ctrl+A to select all contacts. Then right-click, Categories and
apply desired category/ies. Can also be easily automated with a macro, but
probably not needed for a few hundred contacts. Should only take a minute or
two to accomplish.
