Addin a ext. SATA portable drive

J

Jim Corderman

I am trying to add a external SATA drive to the external mount on my Intel
D975XBX2 MB I have the rear mount/plug connected to the red terminal on the
MB but the computed doesn't see it unless I change the option in the setup
bios from Raid To AHCI. When I change it to AHCI the system won't boot
windows, so... The question is: how do I change that driver from RAID to
AHCI?

eSata shouldn't be any different than an internally installed hard drive.
The physical connections are different but to the system, the eSata looks
just like a hard drive connected to an internal sata port. One difference
however is the ability for eSata to hot plug (connect the drive while the
system is powered and running).
