Can anyone tell me the correct formula to add VAT in a Word 2007 document. My
old formula worked in Word 2000 but gives an incorrect result in Word 2007.

The formula hasn't changed. What are you using and - more imporatntly - how
are you using it?

Thanks for your response. The formula is =SUM(ABOVE)*17.5% and I just right
click and select Update Field. What I have discovered since posting my query
is that if there is only one row of figures above it doesn't work, but more
than one row of figures and it does. So maybe it isn't a formula issue after
all. What do you think?

It shouldn't make any difference how many rows there are to be added,
provided there are no gaps in the column of figures being added.

Thank you all for your input. I agree it shouldn't make any difference how
many rows there are to be added up, but on my system at least, it does seem
to. I tested this by putting two rows with a value of £50 each and got £17.50
VAT. With only one row at £100 I got £35.18 VAT. My workaround is to put a
row at the top with a value of £0.00, and this gives the correct value with
£100 in the second row. Then I can just remove the zero row before I output
to paper or PDF.

I would be interested to know whether any of you is able to replicate this
issue, or is it just me :). Of course this worked fine in Word 2000.
