Win XPPro, sp 2.

When I try Control Panel, add/remove programs, I get an error in Run
dll as a app. The program shown is rundll32.exe. The same thing
happens in Safe Mode and after trying "last known good configuration."

Any suggestions to fix this?

Cannot find the Rundll32.exe file when you open Control Panel

Thanks for the suggestion but this isn't my error. Rundll32.exe is
found but crashes.

Note that after running SFC without improvement, I manually extracted
rundll32.exe to a temp directory and did a binary compare to the
version in \windows\system32. There was no difference. I've also done
a search for this error but have found nothing that directly addresses
a fix.

I have weekly Ghost copies of my C boot partition so at some point I
may just start recovering the whole partition until I get one that
works. This does get me nervous, however, and I'd rather find a less
drastic fix first.

I gave up on finding a fix. I restored a two week old Ghost image of
my C drive and Add/Remove Programs is working.
