Add/ Remove Windows Component

Hi,

I'm having problem accessing the Add/ Remove Windows Components. Because I
wanted to install the SNMP service. Once I clciked the Add/ Remove Windows
Component button, it propmt me this message "The program cannot start
properly because your user account does not have the permission to modify the
system registry".

I'm login to the system using ID that is belong to the administrators group.
And also tried using the local administrator ID also face the same problem.

I've checked the registrykey as well, under HKLM, HKCR, all were given the
appropriate permissions.

But when I click the Control Panel, it prompts this error CWBNL0202 -
CWBMSGBX.DLL.

What could be the problem?

Hi Danny.

If you have not done such I would run a full virus scan on the computer and
also run Check Disk. If that does not help run System File Checker as in sfc
/scannow being sure to have the install disk handy. Note that if you run sfc
/scannow on a pre service pack 4 computer it may overwrite hotfixes. Another
possibility is to use the secedit command as described in the link below to
reset security settings to default defined levels. If all that fails, you
may want to do an in place upgrade of the operating system though that will
require you do reinstall first the service pack and then all critical
updates. The links below explain more. --- Steve
