I'm having a problem with removing a program. It was some stupid adware
program. Apparently I deleted the program itself not going through the
add/remove program list. Now its still listed on the programs installed and
i cant remove it, windows tells me "the system cannot find the file
specified. How do I manually remove this from the listing. I have done
this before but I cant remember how its done and had no luck finding
anything in the knowledge base on micrsofts website. Any help would be
appreciated.

Reinstall it then immediately uninstall it properly.

its in the registry, I can't remember the actual entry but someone else
may help you out. in the meantime, search for the program/company name
in the registry and you should find it

Normally if you attempt to use Add/Remove Programs to remove a program
that has been deleted, the applet will tell you that it can't find the
appropriate file and ask if you want to delete the A/R entry. Simply
click Yes and it's gone.

If that doesn't work, open Regedit and navigate to key
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall.
Below that will be a subkey referring to the application you want to
remove. Delete that subkey.
