Well, I have a program that needs Version 1 to be installed, before
version 2 can install. I already have Version 1, but the problem is
it cannot be detected in the Add/remove program list. I'm thinking
this is because I didn't have the setup .exe program to install
version 1, but I don't have the .exe any more.

So basically, my question is: How do you add a program
to the Add/remove program list without a setup.exe?

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Thanks for your time.

Hi clippit,

If you're a developer, read the following article at MSDN which tells you
how to add your product to the "Uninstall" registry key.

Working with Add or Remove Programs in the Control Panel Application:

IMHI, the basic answer is "You don't".
As you don't mention the program, I don't see that anyone here has any
idea as to how the program determines that Version 1 has not been
installed. I would not consider an entry in Add/Remove as being a
normal way to check if a program is installed.

What is the program?
