add/remove problem

I'm having a problem with the add/remove folder in control panel. I no
longer am given the option to remove anything except programs that have an
"remove option". I'm totally baffled. I have been putting off reformatting
for a while now and maybe this is the time? I have no idea what caused
this. Tried system restore, last known good configuration and anything else
I could think of. As a matter of fact, some of my programs are not even
listed there.

Sounds to me like a registry problem? Anyone have any ideas/suggestions, I
would greatly appreciate any response.

Some applications in Add/Remove Programs list are missing Change and Remove
buttons ?
