I recently had a add/remove program FREEZE.
I was recently uninstalling a program by way of Control Panel->
Add/Remove Programs, after 3 minutes I knew something was wrong, it
was frozen, I left it for 25 minutes and after not hearing even drive
activity for 15 minutes I had to reboot by shutting power off. I
turned back on the cpu and checked the add/remove list again, the
program I wanted removed was now gone but the list looked weird I
clicked on a installed program and no remove/modify button anywhere,
I tried installing ZSofts Uninstaller, and now when I look at the
program list from Control Panel-> Add/Remove Programs the only one
with a Remove button is ZSofts Uninstaller, when I look at the
add/remove using the ZSoft Uninstaller there is only one listing to
remove itself.
So my question is can I rebuild the list somehow or is the oly way to
fix this, is by reinstalling everything (would take a real long time)
but it would be then accessable?
BTW - I checked both locations in the registry
software\windows\currentversion\uninstall and both are blank except
for zsofts uninstall.

Obviously the freeze happened once the program was uninstalled and it
was accessing/updating a new list

I did look there already and as I said in the original post there is
nothing listed in either of those two registry spots except program
installed after the freeze.
I have also checked the various directories of programs on my HD and some
have their prospective uninstall.exe files present so it was the add/remove
list that became corrupt during the freeze.

Thank-you for the suggestion though

Perhaps you can create a new "dword" with the values indicated in the
article?
