Add/Remove Display

My neighbor has a problem with his Add/Remove display. The display shows
about three entries and then has, what appears to be a video test pattern
for, what would be, 30 entries, and then the remaining programs are
displayed. What I call the test pattern is black and white strips alternating
between the trips and solid display. I have tried disk scan, degrag... and
still the display remains. He did have trouble with Nortons Anti-Virus 06
which I removed because he was having too many problems and slowness in
processing. I did get the system back up to processing at, what appears to
be, a reasonable processing speed. Does anyone have any suggestions? Your
assistance is appreciated.

This is generally due to the DisplayIcon having a negative number. From
here you can either remove the negative number or remove the last
application listed: Start/Run/Regedit

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\{}

If your issue involves AutoCad, you can download the fix on line 226 (right
hand side): http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm

Another option: Go to Start/Run and type in: regsvr32 appwiz.cpl

I have the same problem and have tried this and it did not work. I rebooted
the PC and went to Add/Remove programs and I still have the same thing. What
exactly do you mean by "remove the last one?" Am I missing something or do
you have any other ideas?
