Add New Printer Error - Specified Port cannot be added. Unable to complete operation

I'm trying to add a local port on a XP Home Edition machine (with lastest
SPs) - and I keep getting this error.

I've made sure both RPC services were running as per an earlier post - as
well - I have
gone thru the windows file protection to make sure the files are ok on disk.

At my wits end ....

Interesting. What is the name of the local port you're trying to add ?

From what I'm hearing from certain people ... XP Home Edition is so crippled
that adding a local port is not possible.... I certainly hope that this is
not true.... if this is the case - our software cannot support XP Home
Edition - plain and simple...

Well - I wonder why the problem??

The other day I wrote something using XcvData and ran it - after this I
could add local printers - but this morning - deleted the old printer ports
I had added and went to add them again - no way....

I also made sure to turn on as many services as possible on - nothing....

Is there anyways to get an answer as to why this problem would occur?
