Does anyone know where I can get help with " add new hardware, install new
modem" wizard in XP Pro ??
When I select the wizard to auto detect my standard analogue modem , it
starts searching just for bluetooth devices !

[unofficial] Use the wizard to manually install the device and point it to
the drivers for the device if you have them .. or select from a list if you
do not.

Start the wizard.

When you get to the "The following hardware is already installed on your
computer" page of the wizard, scroll down the list to the very bottom and
select "Add a new hardware device" then hit Next.

On the "The wizard can help you install other hardware" page, tell it you
want to "Install the hardware that i manually select from a list [Advanced]
then hit Next

On the "From the list below, select the type of hardware you are installing"
page select "Modems" and hit Next

The "Install New Modem" page comes up (You might be coming back to this page
if the first try doesn't work).

Check the "Don't detect my modem; I will select it from a list" checkbox ..
it Next

On the next page you will see a list of Standard Modem types .. IF YOU DO
NOT HAVE THE DRIVERS select the one you think fits best in speed etc.

Use the back button to try and try again from the various types until you
find one that works. Also backing up to the try unchecking the "Don't detect
my modem; I will select it from a list" unchecked if all else doesn't work.

IF YOU DO HAVE THE DRIVERS, when you get to the page with the list of
Standard modem types hit "Have Disk.." and point the wizard to your modem
drivers.

I hope that helps.

When I get to the "add new modem option" andcselect the scheme of "selecting
form a list " then the one and only HAYES modem on that list is not the one
I want.
hmmm. something starnge is happening here as in the past the Hayes list has
been fairly comprehensive and certainly more than just one choice.
