Add mode Form feature

Im having a problem making a form open up in add mode. I went through all the
steps and the save record button isnt functional.
 
You should not really need a "save record" button.

Is the form based on a query? If so, is the query updateable? Can you add
records to the query?

Is the form's "allow additions" property set to true or false?
 
Its based on a query. It wouldn't let me add records to the query. Is there a
record limit in access. The query returns about a million records. When it
goes to the form in add mode, the fields aren't blank.
 
There are no record limits.

The form fields are blank? Do you have the form set as "data entry" mode?

Look at the form property sheet and see if one of the properties is not
right.
 
The form fields are not blank when the form. They contain data thats already
in the database. I set the form up to open up in add mode when i created the
switchboard.
