Add-Ins in Normal.dot

I've read a number of questions regarding toolbars but haven't found an
answer to mine as of yet. We have a number of Document Processors using a
number of different templates in Word and they lose their toolbars every time
they go in to a document. I understand (I think) that I need to attach and
ADD these templates in their Normal.dot but there are SO many tools it's not
feasible to add them all to the normal (you wouldn't be able to see the blank
area).

My question: If I "attach" the templates and add them all to their Normal -
but once done, take the checkmark OFF the "addin" will it simply be a matter
of them putting the checkmark back ON to be able to see the toolbars they
want for that template? Does this make sense?

Hi Beth,

It may just be me but nothing in your post really makes sense.

What do you mean by Document Processors?
In what way do they 'use' templates?
Who or what 'goes into a document'

You don't add templates to Normal.dot.

You can have toolbars in any template or document and when that template or
document is active those toolbars should display. Loading and unloading
global templates or AddIns will cause any toolbars in them to be displayed
or removed appropriately - but you shouldn't need to go to such extremes.
Can you try explaining again exactly what your problem is?

Hi,

As Tony says, your post doesn't make sense. You are using jargon terms in
ways that don't fit.

Reading between the lines, I suspect that you have been trying to add
templates as Add-Ins using Tools > Templates and Add-Ins. This is makes the
Add-In a part of Word for that Word session and the template will remain
(unchecked) in that list for future sessions. The simplest way to make an
Add-In a part of Word is to put it in Word's startup folder. You don't do
anything to normal.dot.

You read between the lines perfectly (sorry for my jargon terms). I guess my
question should have "simply" been: How can I have multiple toolbars for
different frequently" used templates easily available without having to
attach to them all the time.

It looks like my answer is to put them in the startup.
