Add formatting to auto-correct?

Is there a way to put formatting into an auto-correct entry.

Specifically, I want an elipsis to automatically include (I'm not sure what
they're called) the special "spaces" that won't be separated. (They're
created by <ctrl><shift><space>, and that way the three periods in the
elipsis won't separate at the end of a line.)

Right now, I have to do that manually, and I'd like to be able to his
period, space, period, space, period. (Yes, I know I don't need spaces
between the dots, but I don't like the way that looks.)

Many thanks.

Should be. You'll need to copy the entry into the AutoCorrect box (using
Control-C, not the menu), instead of typing it in. There is a radio button
for "formatted text" but I do not think non-breaking spaces (the technical
name) count as formatted text. Be sure to delete or edit Word's existing
entry for three periods.

By the way, Find & Replace after the fact would also have been quicker than
manually, though you might have needed to copy Word's ellipsis into the F&R
box as well.

Is there some reason you prefer this to Word's automatic correction of ...
to an ellipsis character (…)?

The dot's in the auto correct version are too close together for my taste.
I want them spaced out. Just my taste, is all.

Hi Ken, I just copied with (with the 'hard spaces') and replaced the existing
.... in auto correct - works fine - in Word 2000 at least. Cheers. Jazz
