Adaware will not finish

Latest version of Adware, updated definitions, Win 98SE machine. Neither
the complete nor the smart system scan will finish. It will hang up during
conditional scan. I've left it running for 24+ hours, but it will not
finish. And when I cancel, I am not giving the option of deleting the found
items.

Any ideas?

Have you tried running it while in safe mode?

Adaware SE will do that if started while the machine is running
Folding@home.
