I tries running Ad-ware Se and received a message that updates were
outdated tried to get updates but received an error message
went to Ad-ware web-site found out they no longer support Se Personal
Downloaded the free ware version of 2007 , ran the product and every thing
was ok
Since I still had the old version , I wanted to be sure every thing was
clean
So I rebooted my PC and with nothing running I ran SE 2007 first
then SE personal
And the old version was still collecting errors that the new version did not
pick up.
Since the products are free ware , I can not contact them to tell about the
errors
Any one have any ideas.
Thanks
Bob

Have you looked at their *free* support forums?

After downloading and installing 2007 did you update definitions?

Hope this helps.

Perhaps you did a Smart Scan with the new version and a Full Scan with the
old? The old version will never be updated anymore.

As with other anti-malware products, the logs, etc. are not removed when the
program is uninstalled. This is normal behavior. Some products will offer
the option of removing even these files, but it is not necessary to remove
them before installation of a new product.

It tells you that. That's how you are prompted to download 2007. I think
he forgot to update definitions after downloading 2007.

To answer the questions
I did not know about the new version only when I tried to download the
latest updates in SE. I received an error message
went to the web site and they claim they do not support the old version any
longer
as for what I did
1) downloaded the latest updates for 2007
2) the scans for both products were full scans
as of now I just run both

The only forum they have is if you purchase their product

So you now want a forum that is a peer-to-peer group for supporting
Windows XP to become your personal ad-aware support forum???

Nope, there are others. You just didn't look close enough.

The old version can be manually updated. Do to Lavasoft.com and click on
security center and then download the zip.def file, unzip it and put the
def.refs file in the Ad_aware directory. C:\Program Files\Ad-aware
