I have a user that hasn't been saving data to the network
storage location but to her My Documents location. Today
that users profile seemed to be over written with older
data. This included the my documents folder. Can anyone
tell me how this is possible? I always assumed that if a
profile failed it would creat a new profile using the .000
format. I am in the process of changing how people work
on the network. Not giving them the opertunity to save
locally. Is there any way of recovering those datafiles
once the profile fails like it has?

Thanks

Rich

What OS is she running - Windows XP Pro or 2000 Pro? How are you
determining that the profile was overwritten with older data? Is the user
redirecting her My Documents folder (right-click My Documents icon, choose
Properties and note the target)? Does she have offline files enabled and
is she synchronizing that data? Are there date/time stamps that indicate
the data is older?

What particular data are we talking about - is it a specific file type or
are there multiple files that have been overwritten. Have other settings
changed within her profile or is it just information in her My Documents
folder?

It doesn't sound as if her profile is failing. If the user can login
successfully and access her desktop she's got a working profile. Has she
experienced a problem where she could not get into her profile? Did any
error message appear when she went to login or are there error messages in
Event Viewer indicating a profile problem? Are there multiple profiles for
her username (local and domain)? Has she made any recent changes just
prior to this problem occurring?
