AD dc doesnt show servers in users and comps, others do...

AD, we have 4 servers, 2 in Edinburgh, Ad1 and 2 and 2 in Reading ad1 and 2.
The DC here in Edinburgh is the browser master and one other roles is on
Ad2, Domain.
I look in AD users and computers on Ad1 and see in app servers/mail
servers/mailbox servers NO servers, on AD2 in Edinburgh I see the 4 email
boxes im supposed to see, AD1 and 2 in Reading also see the same info.

This became apparent during a switch back from Disaster recovery where we
set the exchange servers in reading to pick up the work instead of edinburgh,
done this like 5/6 times over the last month and all been fine before, during
and after disaster recovery testing. AFAIK we have never changed the master
browser/pdc to be anything other than AD1 in edinburgh...

I checked replication using replmon, all fine. I ran dcpromo to remove/add
the server back in and then reset the machine to be the browser master an
dran replmon again, all fine. Other servers see AD1 ED. As the AD master but
still after a weekend of no network traffic bar AD/Windows stuff the server
still doesn’t have the same items in ad users and computers.

NB. DCDIAG and browstat status all seemt o be showing the correct info.

Any ideas of what I can try appreciated as this is a wierd problem...

Any errors in the Event logs? One guess, during your DR testing, if you
changed the Infrastructure Master to be on the same machines as a GC may
cause this. Just a guess, but this is providing that there is unhindered
communication between the locations and your DNS infrastructure has not been
altered.

As for the browser master, that is always the machine holding the PDC
Emulator role of each domain. If that switches in a domain, then the other
machines may not be communication with this machine and an election ensues
and one of the backup browsers masters takes on the role. Do you have WINS
in place?
