AD Child Domain DNS Question

S

Shelby

I have an empty forest root (network.net). The first Dc
is a dns server Active Directory Integrated; I ran
dcpromo on a second Dc and the dns server of it has all
the records from the first. This is fine, it is what I
wanted.

I added a child domain (child.network.net). The dns
server on this server does not have any of the records as
the parent servers do. I thought maybe it was a
replication issue, but I waited 4 days with still no zone.

I want to point all the clients to the dc in
child.network.net to resolve dns; but I don't want to
necessarly want to delegate the child.network.net zone to
the child dc.

Can anyone help?

Thanks in advanced.

Where is the child dc pointed to for dns (itself or still the parent domain)
Not sure why you don't want to delegate dns for the child to the child dc
since all the clients will be pointing to it, but you should point it to
itself for dns, create a child.network.net zone for it, and can set a
Forwarder up pointing to the parent. Be sure that the zone you create on
the child is set to allow dynamic updates, so itself and everybody else that
point to it will be able to register there.
