Hi,
I am fairly new to web design so be gentle. I am building a website for my
golf club and it does require activex controls to be enabled. I have read
the articles that were posted previously and read the information from MS.
What I would like to know is :-

What options have I got so that users don't have to click allow activex
control. I have seen sites that have certificates that you install so that
you don't get the prompt. Is this costly? Are there other ways so that
members don't have to keep clicking allow. i know that I can write a note on
the page explaining to them how to set the site as trusted but many of the
members would not dream of trying to do this due to very limited computer
ability.

I just want a nice easy way that they can click a button to say they trust
this site and active x runs ok.

any help would be appreciated

dave

1. ActiveX will always prompt, unless the user modifies their IE security settings
2. ActiveX is only supported in IE browsers.
3. There is nothing you can do within the web site to change any of this.

Hi,
thanks for the reply. After further checking I have come to that conclusion
now. I have just read an authenticode article from MS. I will just put a
sticky on the homepage telling users how to put website in trusted zone.

thanks

dave
