Active Desktop and File Associations

A user recently tried to 'clean up' their system by
removing 'un-needed' file associations.

I know that one (or more) file associations were
accidentally removed that should not have been.

Once the user had completed their 'fiddling' active
desktop was no longer available (the error
message "Windows can't locate the active desktop html
file..." appeared and they could not turn it on). Also web
views seem to have corrupted so that now all that is
displayed is "%THISDIRNAME%" with no formatting. And
finally, javascript within IE will not run (error
message "Class not registered").

The problem with IE has been fixed by registering a dll
with regsvr32. However the active desktop and web views
(if I'm naming it properly) still have problems.

I can see by looking in the list that the 'htt' file type
has been removed, but putting it back hasn't fixed it!

I hope that someone can point me in the right direction to
correct this error.

Cheers,
Paul

I'll start of by apologising for not having your answer.
But many of my client/users haven't always told me the
whole story (not even knowing what part of the story
they're telling) I'm presuming you made sure they didn't
also delete files and did a SFC just to "make sure"
everything needed is there?
