active arrows

When one draws an arrow on a map to indicate a movement from X spot to Y
spot, is there a way to activate that arrow so it starts from point X to
point Y?

I know I can make it slide in from a side or corner, but is there a way to
make it appear as an arrow developing from its point of onset X (within the
map slide) to its end point Y?

Thanks.

Depends on the version of PowerPoint you have. If you have 2002 or 2003 try
using the "Stretch" custom animation that starts from the left and animates
at the speed you desire. I'm sure there might be others that give this
effect, but this one works for me. If you have an older version of
PowerPoint, try the "Peek from left" to see if it works for you.

If Bill's suggestions don't work for you or if you have an older version of
PowerPoint, try looking at this download from Microsoft:

http://office.microsoft.com/downloads/2000/animtechnqs.aspx

It shows you how to do all kinds of neat animation effects with the wimpy
animation tools available in the lowly 2000 version.
