There is currently a big problem with the main internet trunk on the US
West cost, which is likely to be the trouble. Normally, get on the net
*first*, then go to
Start - All Programs - Accessories - System Tools - Activate Windows.

Unless you are running out of time for activation, give it a day or
three - if you are, use the 'phone in' option to the toll free number
that will be given
