activation key suddenly stops working?

i come back to my comp after going afk and see windows wants me to put in an
activation key. i've been using it probably over a year without problem,
suddenly this comes up. when i enter my key, it says its in use. i've never
given it out to anyone.

so i cant enter the key because it's in use by me? i'd email support, but
suddenly out of nowhere it doesn't like my activation key. why does it want
to be activated now anyway?

You can reset your Windows Vista activation by performing the following:

1. Click on the Start button and in the Start Search box type in: slui.exe 4

2. Press the Enter key on your keyboard.

3. Select your Country.

4. Follow the instructions for phone activation.

5. Once completed, restart your computer.

wouldn't it have been easier to just give me the number?

i guess the problem is that i upgraded some hardware so vista thinks its on
a different computer.

after something this silly i think i'll consider a new os before i bother
calling.

No. The number to call differs depending on country, time zone, model of
Vista, and whether you can think like a carrot.

Yep.

If you do get a different OS, then don't bother calling.

Making physical threats against someone on the Internet is a criminal
offense. You ready for the consequences?

Cheers.

Q: What OS is built for lusers?
A: Which one requires running lusermgr.msc to create them?

No, I don't. But if you dare to threaten me, then I'll have charges laid
against you through the IC3 immediately. They'll be able to quickly find
the idiot hiding behind "Frank" and deal with your criminal behavior.

Cheers.
