I can not seem to activate my program any more (powerpoint as well as a few
others in the Office Professional Edition 2003).. I followed the
instructions
and tried the "telephone" method but NOTHING appears. No instructions.. No
phone numbers... It just closes the activation screen and then NOTHING..

Just to clarify some comments on another list.. No its not a trial version,
its due to the fact that I have tried to activate it past a certain number of
times.

I just need the phone number to call to activate.

I had something similar happen with WinXP/Home. It was an OEM version (ie, came
with the computer) and didn't need to be activated, but didn't have the wit to
pop a message box and TELL me that.

Has your copy of Office gone into reduced functionality mode? IOW, you can use
it to view but not save documents?

MS doesn't seem to supply a single activation phone number; help and the info on
the web that I've been able to find says that it varies by product and to use
the Activation Wizard. Which doesn't help you one bit. You may need to call
tech support on this, or if you can find a friend with a copy of 2003 who hasn't
yet activated it or maybe someone who'll download and install a trial version,
then have them use the activation wizard while disconnected from the net.

Yes it is in Reduced Funtionality mode..

I can't seem to find a number that does not charge 40+ dollars. I am
thinking that I need to call the activation number but that does not appear.

Nope don't know anyone that has that.

Those 40buck tech support calls don't necessarily get billed; it depends on whether
you're dealing with a software problem or a "How do I use this?" kind of issue. I'm
pretty sure you get a chance to back out before the meter starts ticking, so you
might want to give it a shot.

First though, do you have another copy of Office 2003 installed, maybe a preinstalled
OEM Office 2003 Standard, a trial version or one of the standalone versions or the
student & teacher edition? Trying to install Office Professional atop one of those
can apparently cause registration glitches.

The fix is to uninstall any existing version first, then try installing Office 2003
Pro. And in your case, you might want to uninstall any shred of Office 2003
Anything, so long as you've got the CDs to reinstall it available.
