Activation and Hardware add-ons.

I have a Windows XP SP2 machine that is fully licensed and legit.

I purhcased a NEW video card and a WinPVR and am about to install them, but
am concerned about re-activation.

The main reason that I ask and am concerned, is that over the past two years
I have added a second hard disk, upgraded the NIC (wirelss), added a SCSI
card and added ram. As a resutl, I've used up my three "GIFTS" - Freebies)
I've had to call MS once in the last 60 days to re-activate and really don't
want to go thru that hassle again.

Having said that, I decided to check on the "Re-activation" protocols and
rules and include the following two links.

1) http://www.aumha.org/win5/a/wpa.php
2) http://www.microsoft.com/piracy/activation_faq.mspx

There are other articles, but I don't want to fill this message with a bunch
of links.

It seems to me from these two articles that I am good to go.

Can anyone advise as to the reality of adding these new devices with regard
to re-activation.

Thanks

The winxp "activation" is flakey & one doesn't have to "add" hardware for
the required activation.

I just changed to a newer case with all the hardware remaining the same:
same motherboard, net card, firewire & usb cards & soundcard; the processor
& ram are the same as is the harddrive & video card.

Considering I just move the hardware from one enclosure to another; winxp
with sp1 claims that I did a "drastic change" to the system & required a
re-activation. Winxp apparently decided that the sound card was added as
it could have been placed in a different pci slot; had to load the drivers
again & for some stupid m$ reason, had to do the load 3 times before winxp
was satisfied.

The point is that one doesn't need to "add hardware" before winxp required
an activation; another m$ lie about "activation".
