I can't seem to use an acronym in the cell. FOr example "HSA" will
automaticall go to "HAS". Please let me know a way around this.

Try

Tools|Auto correct options
Type HSA in the left hand box and you should find HAS comes up in the right
hand one. Click Delete.

Perennial question isn't it? I always seem to forget the
different techniques in Word and Excel to temporarily cancel an
autocorrect. Anyway, in Excel after a space in the formula bar,
the acronym will change but CTRL-Z will switch it back. Word and
Excel use the same autocorrect file and I prefer to not make
permanent changes.

Delete the correction for HSA

Note: the autocorrection list is used by all Office applications.
