I have just installed True Image 10 build 4942 under XP Home SP2 and it
seems to work find until a restore with
the need to reboot. When the system reboots, the screen on my MAG 17"
Inovision looses
synchronization and I can't read it. The restore operation appears to
complete OK and the
reboot to Windows XP occurs with the restored image running.

I have made a bootable CD and when I boot it, the same thing happens as soon
as I choose
either the Safe or Full version from the first screen that comes up. The
screen goes haywire.

The monitor is connected to the onboard video, I don't have a separate video
card installed and doing so is not an option right now

What do I need to do to get True Image working on my machine?

Thank you.

Since this happends even when you boot with a TrueImage
rescue CD, it is obviously a TrueImage and not a WinXP
problem. I would try the TrueImage FAQs or the Acronis
helpdesk.

Yes, I thought it was a True Image problem and not an XP problem but I was
hoping someone here might have had the same experience. I have already
Googled the problem, looked ant the TI FAQ's, searched their forums and
contacted TI support. No solution found in any of those. TI support's
suggest was to use a earlier version :) and of course that didn't work.

Thanks again.

Here is my one and only experience with ANY imaging software, and it
was Ghost....

We couldn't image a drive if we did this...

Orignal Image on NTFS drive, imaged to another NTFS drive...

We had to image the NTFS drive to a FAT32 Drive, worked like a
champ.... tested it on 3 diff drives, NTFS would NOT work...

Try that and see... if you can....

Jack:
Just to get a clear understanding of the problem you're experiencing with
the Acronis program...

1. First of all, setting aside the Acronis disk cloning/disk imaging backup
& recovery operations can we assume that there's *absolutely* no problem
with your system? The system boots without incident and thereafter functions
without any problems whatsoever, yes?

If "no", then go no further and detail what those problems are, OK?

2. Tell us something about how you're using the Acronis program to back up
your system...
a. Are you using its disk cloning process or its disk imaging process?
b. Where do you back up to? A USB or Firewire external HDD or to another
internal HDD?
c. Whatever backup process you're using - does it go without incident and
appears the backup was successful?
d. If you're using Acronis' disk imaging process, are you creating
subsequent incremental or differential backup files (archives)? And on the
same destination drive that contains your original backup archive?
e. Are you undertaking the backing up process from the installed Acronis
program or do you use the "Bootable Rescue Media" CD to do so? If the latter
why do you do so rather than from the installed Acronis program?
f. You're sure your created BRM is without defect?
g. Has this problem you're now relating just occurred or have you never been
able to effect a good recovery?
h. You're reasonably certain you've been following the correct procedures
for backing up & restoring?
i. What do you mean when you talk about your monitor that "looses
synchronization and I can't read it." apparently during the recovery
operation. What exactly do you mean? Are there any other problems affecting
your monitor? Only when you're using the Acronis program to restore your
system from the backed up image files (or disk clone)?
j. As to this restore operation that's not working...
Are you just experimenting with the process or are you trying to restore
your XP system to a new HDD or one that has become corrupt & unbootable?
Have you ever been successful in doing so or is this your first attempt?

I think you may see where I'm trying to go with these questions. It would
really help if you provided a step-by-step scenario as to how you use the
Acronis program for backing up your system & then trying to restore it.
Don't talk in generalities. Be as specific as you can so that I (and others)
can gain a clear understanding of your problem.

BTW, I recently posted step-by-step instructions on using the Acronis
program (both for backup & recovery). You may want to take a look at it.
They were posted on 5/6/07 and the thread was "Re: backup apps -> reinstall
xp -> restore apps".
