Acronis Restore Problem

Below is an e-mail I sent to Acronis. Does anyone here have a clue as to
what is happening? (Who knows how long it will take to get an answer
from Acronis, much less the correct answer.)

Sirs:
I had 5 True Image backup files on my 230Gig E: drive. Each of the
..tib files is of my C: drive made at different weekly intervals.

However, when I tried too restore the latest one while in Safe Mode,
neither of the three latest backups showed. Matter of fact, only the
oldest two images showed. The three latest .tib files were nowhere to
be seen on the E: drive when in the Wizard window.

Even after deleting the oldest THREE files, hoping the two latest
would show, the two oldest - which I had deleted before rebooting,
still showed after rebooting.

What the hey is happening?

I'm glad I stumbled on this before I really needed to restore a lost
C: drive.

However, when I tried too restore the latest one while in Safe Mode,

Safe mode of *what*? Windows? The Acronis restore CD?

neither of the three latest backups showed.

Didn't show *what*? The three files weren't there? The three latest
backup dates didn't show up in the restore dialog?

Even after deleting the oldest THREE files,

Are you using incremental backups? If you are, that's a good way to
guarantee you'll never be able to restore.

Perhaps he didn't leave enough space to store his images and is getting
two separate image locations confused. Doesn't TI hide the secure zone
(partition) from the user normally?

I don't think the OP is using the secure zone.

I don't think the OP is using the secure zone.

I have no clue as to what a "secure zone" is.

Here is a copy of my latest post to Acronis support regarding this
ridiculous problem.
===================================
Thank you for choosing Acronis Software.
http://www.acronis.com/homecomputing/

Could you please clarify if your all backup files was full images
and send us the screenshots showing the problem? If you are
not familiar with making screen shots, please read the below
step-by-step instructions.

- Get to the window which you want to make a screen shot of;
- Hit the (Alt+)PrintScreen button on your keyboard;
- Run Paint usually available in Start\Programs\Accessories or another graphics application;
- Choose Paste command in Edit menu;
- Save the result picture with JPEG format being preferable.

We are looking forward to hearing back from you.

Thank you.

There is no way I can figure out how to use Snagit! or PrintScreen in
Safe Mode.

I'll explain my problem one more time.

In the past month, I have made 5 full image backups of my C: drive.

The Acronis Restore Wizard puts me into Safe Mode when I try restoring
an image.

When I try to recover the latest one of the 5 images, all the TI
Wizard shows are the first 2 images I made. In other words, the oldest
of the images. Nowhere are the most recent 3 shown.

I am using XP Pro. My images are stored on outboard USB hard disks.

What is even more strange is that when I deleted the first 3 images I
had made - in hopes TI would now show the most recent 2 images, it
does not show these more recent images. Even after a cold boot, it
still shows the first 2 older images, despite the fact I had deleted
those images before rebooting!

I have no idea what the heck is happening.

On top of all this, Acronis had stopped XP Pro's ability to make any
System Restore Points. Even those I made manually would not stay.

After uninstalling Acronis, I find I how have my System Restore Points
showing once again.

Why is this program so ridiculously difficult to understand and use?

How in the heck does one make sense of this thing?

Reading the manual would be a good start.
