Acronis 10 Beta

Hi Guys

Got a copy of Acronis 10 Beta, works fine in Vista RC1, backup /
restore to / from network folders no problems. There are a few minor
bugs which I have reported but nothing show stopping, except don't use
the Acronis Secure Zone option, it mucks Vistas' boot file. If you
want a copy you can sign up for beta testing at the Acronis Home page
or e mail them with a request for Acronis 10 Beta.

FWIW I tried the built in backup which still seems typical MSFT, half
arsed and unfinished. I could backup user folders to a network drive
but the only option for a full image was to DVD and took forever to
complete. This is fine but when I am testing stuff I want a full image
restore and I want it now not in several hours maybe if it actually
works. Plus I want an image on a network folder not on a DVD - I don't
understand why MSFT did this....by the time Vista is full of software
and files you will need dozens of DVDs to get an image out of it and
about a months downtime to write one.....just silly.

I will attempt to restore the MSFT version now I have proper image via
Acronis, should be interesting.

Yeah but not on all configurations of hardware. My particular SATA
drive was no good with Acronis 9.0 - 10 is specifically designed to be
Vista compatable not accidently so, in fact 9.0 would not install on
5384 Beta 2 in my case, but I did not bother trying it on RC1 as I
have only had RC1 installed couple of days and I had the 10 beta
anyway.

Bet you have not got a cheap crappy Western Digital out of a HP
machine though?

Never got a BSOD in Beta2 with 9.0 but the install failed and it would
not run or uninstall for that matter. 10 Beta works fine though.

Hey Paul, I haver Acronis 9.0 home I'm trying to install, and I keep getting
the install program telling me there is something interfering with the
Acronis installer. I have a 64bit Vista RC1. Any suggestions?
