Acrobat Reader 6.0

I have tried on several occassions to download from the
Adobe web site the latest version of the Acrobat Reader
6.0 (something done probably hundreds of times per day).
Version 5.0 came with my computer. Each time the download
works but the installation terminates right near the end,
a message flashes on the screen for only an instant (it
contains something about a temporary file couldn't be
opened but it flashes on and off so quickly I can't
really be sure) and then the computer shuts off.
I am running Windows XP Home Edition on a Toshiba
Satellite 1805-S274.
Any help would be appreciated.
 
Are you installing with Admin permissions?

First uninstall the prior version. Then purge your %temp% directory.
Now try the install.
