hi,

I read from Internet recently NCQ can help boosting hard disk performance,
is that ture? And what's the big difference?

thanks

Kevin

Thanks for that, but I want to know how much difference with/without NCQ on?

Cannot give you exact numbers but the real world gains aren't as much
as the specifications state. I use recent model SATA drives in "Legacy"
mode and they deliver around ~121.0 Megabytes-per-Second. With
perpendicular data orientation and 32-Megabyte Cache they perform
very well. I would suspect that later OS'es ( Vista/Seven ) probably do
deliver a perceptible gain over what XP delivers using Native mode.

It's not uncommon to read about technical advances and then implement
them and find out the net results don't deliver what you expected.

yeah, it's proved by myself NCQ is far from us in real world, I would like
to call NCQ a idea.

I conducted HD TUNE PRo 3.5 test, the NCQ test result is even worse than
Native IDE, which is 58MB/S against 78MB/S, there is about 15~20MB/S lower
performance.

So disappointed to notice this...
