I accidentally uninstalled my system's basic windows components, such as
taskmgr.exe and the other basic programs that windows normally accesses.

I was wondering, is there any way to get these back without reinstalling
windows? I tried system restore, but as i expected, system restore doesn't
affect the actual files on the computer (which are what is missing).

Any help is much appreciated!

Not sure how you accomplished this? Those system files are protected and you
should have received numerous warnings. System File Protection should also
automatically replace these files as soon as they are deleted.

Your best bet is to run System File Checker to replace these files.

Go to Start/Run and type: sfc /scannow The program will run. Have your
XP installation disk in the drive when you run this command.

Task Manager, MSCONFIG, or REGEDIT disappear while opening
