While working on a programming project, I disabled remote dcom using
dcomcnfg.exe (which I had enabled previously), but then I deleted a user call
Everyone and it's access permisions. Now tons of different things don't
work, I can't drag icons on the desktop, cut and past doesn't work in most
programs, windows media player won't start, etc.. I went back into
dcomcnfg.exe to put it back to the defaults, but when I click on My Computer
in the dcomcnfg.exe window it just goes away. I noticed a bunch of dcom
errors in the event log, but I can't view any of them, cause that's not
working either. Any oneknow how I can but the default permissions back?

Have you tried to run this command:

sfc /scannow

This should replace all missing files.
