I accidentally deleted a folder containing important work, in the forms of word documents and jpg files. My computer crashed shortly after and the recycle bin is empty. I have tried using the system restore function within the XP menu but this failed to bring them back. Is there anyway i can get into the registry or something to recover the files? I know that all files leave some trace on hard drives and i wondered how it was possible to find these? I'd be very grateful if you could help!

To recover deleted files you will need third-party software:
you can try:

Good luck

Try this. I've never used it, but a google search didn't turn up any
cmplaints on discussion boards. Recovery programs can be very pricey,
so if it were me, I'd try a free one first. Good luck.
