accessing templates from keyboard W2002

I've just upgraded from Word 2000 to 2002. Now when I want to start a new
document based on one of my templates (Alt F New), the "New Document" sidebar
automatically opens, forcing me from the keyboard to the mouse to get to my
templates. I don't want the sidebar and don't want to leave the keyboard or
add any more steps to the process. How can I do this?

Thanks!

Replace the New... command that opens the New Document task pane with the
FileNewDialog command, which will open the dialog as before. If you don't
know how to do this from Tools | Customize, see
http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/Customization/AsgnCmdOrMacroToToolbar.htm

I've actually replaced the New (FileNewDefault) button on my Standard
toolbar with a FileNewDialog button, as I prefer to get to the dialog with a
single click.
