Accessing private files

Well, Murphy finally came calling. XP doesn't boot from
my HD any longer (although it keeps trying). I
reinstalled XP on a new drive and slaved the original
one. Every on the old drive is available except, under
the Documents and Settings folder on the bum drive, the
private folder for user Owner is not accessible. Setting
up an administrator id (user Owner, same password as
before) and logging as that user doesn't seem to help.

Does anybody have any suggestions? Any help would be
greatly appreciated. If not, maybe I try punting the
screwy drive from the 50 yard line...
