Hi All
I have the following problem. I have two computer 1 and 2. I want to use
the disk and printers in computer 1 from the network and access from computer
2. Both computers has XP Professional and simple file sharing is turned off.
Both computer are in the same workgroup. I have an account named A on
computer 1 and account named B in computer 2.

When I try to access computer 1 from computer 2's network places I get the
error "is not accessible. You might not have permission to use this network
resource. Contact the administrator of this server to find out if you have
access permissions. Access is denied."

But when I add an account B in computer 1 with the same passwd as in
computer 2, I can access computer 1 from computer 2 and all its shared drives
and printers.

I want to access computer 1 from computer 2 without adding account B in
computer 1. I will supply account name A and password of A from computer 2.

Can anyone please tell me how to do that?

Thanks.

The "...access denied..." error can have several causes, only some of which are
related to account management.

If you need to correct your accounts, make sure that you understand the
differences between Guest and non-Guest authentication, and Simple vs Classical
File Sharing.

Hello,

because the authentication in a Workgroup is not centralized, i think it is
not possible to provide the Account A on PC 1 to access files on PC 2. The
user is unknown on PC2.

This will only work if you have a domain with centralized accounts, that are
accessible in the whole network

If you want to provide access anyway, without providing the account A on PC
2, you will have to share your ressources to Everyone, eventually to grant
Modify Share Permissions to Everyone
