Accessing "My Computer" from start menu taking EXTREMELY long time

I'm hoping someone out there can help me here, 'cuz I don't know what
happened (or what I did) but when I click on *My Computer* the screen pops up
right away, but then I get that stupid little search *flashlight* that runs
for a almost a full 2 minutes before any of my drives or programs appear---
it doesn't matter if I try from the start menu, taskbar, or desktop icon. I
have no problem accessing Admin. Tools or System Info or any of the other
system functions, and I can even go directly to *Properties* with a right
click on My Computer from the start menu---it's just *My Computer* itself I
have a problem with. Any help? Anyone? Please?
