accessing internet sites

My computer has recently prevented me from accessing some internet sites that
I had been visiting almost daily up to now. One of them is a brokerage house
in London. This house has sites for many countries and I have no problem
logging on those, just not the UK site. Another is a NASA astronomy site
which I was able to access up to a few days ago, but not now. I cannot
understand it and no one I asked has been able to help so far, despite going
into the Control Panel and even using the Reinstallation CD for Microsoft XP.
I don't want to have the Computer wiped and start all over but I need to get
into that site each day. Does anyone have any ideas?

Hi Bryn,
Clear your caches and delete your cookies and Interent files.
Also check if these websites address been blocked on your Privacy Tab and
click on Sites Button there you can Clear them if been blocked or assign them
as Always Allow and see if this Problem will go.
=> Try and rename your Hosts File to another name like HOSTS.LONDON, on how
to access the HOSTS file follow these steps:
Open the Windows Explorer and Expand the [+] C:\ by clicking on the Plus
sign [+] and subfolders will Open click on Windows then on System32 then on
Drivers and finally on etc folder 9 The path will look like this
C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc.) and look in the Right Pane you will see two
files named Hosts, please don't edit or rename this file with the extension
*.SAM* leave this alone.
While you are there Open the Hosts file and see if there iare any entries
for the pre-mentioned websites and remove them or you can right click on the
file and select Rename and rename to Hosts.London for example and close then
Reboot your machine.
Did you install any other toolbars recently on your machine?.
HTH.
Please report back your Results.

Hi Nass,
Thanks for your suggestions. It took me a while to figure out what Windows
Explorer was but I eventually got into Hosts. All the sites I could not
access were in there. Initially, the deletion failed but the second time
around it was successful and now I am able to access these sites again.
Thanks again!
Regards, Bryan
