Messages will down load but I get an Internet Explorer Script error when I
try to click on the folder to view the messages.

It says:
"An error has occurred in the script on this page.
Line: 15
Char: 1
Error: Permission Denied
Code: 0
URL:
http://officeupdate.microsoft.com/office/redirect/10/OutlookHotmailPane.asp?DPC={6E8DD200-AB04-11D1-B5B8-006097C998E7}&DCC={CC29E96F-7BC2-11D1-A921-00A0C91E2AA2}&AppName=Outlook&HelpLCID=1033

Do you want to continue running scripts on the page? Y/N"

No matter if I answer yes or no it won't view the page. I have updated
Office and Outlook. It appears to be failing on the check for an office
update page. I would image this is an automatic thing. I have attempted to
open up the security settings on IE as much as possible but that did not work
either.

I am aware of the restriction that Microsoft put on the non-paying accounts.
But then they opened it back up - or at least grandfathered in old accounts
that previously had it. And I was using it up until about 2 weeks ago when my
desktop crashed and I decided to move everything over to my laptop.

AFAIK, there was no grandfathering of old accounts. Some older accounts
worked for a while but they were set to expire.

No, I still am grandfathered for Hotmail access in OL on my 2 computers. I
received a "because you are a long time subscriber to Hotmail...." email that
said I would be able to access free Hotmail. Those that did not receive the
notice had their access rights expire. It also doesn't work if it's set up as
a new account on a new computer.

that's the deal!

I am grandfathered in. I got the same email as Mary.

I decided to also try to set it up in Outlook Express and it works just
fine. I do not want to use 2 separate email clients and need the
functionality of Outlook. Anyone with any more suggestions?

Since it appears that it's trying to check for office updates and the script
error occurs on that page (office update page), is there a way to stop the
automatic checking for office updates when connecting/viewing a Hotmail
folder?

Thanks,
James

I suggest you pay for a subscription that allows for Hotmail access with the
Outlook Connector. The old type of access will cease and is only available
to some clients when a connection had previously been set up. It is a
security risk.
You have moved to another computer - it should no longer work with Outlook.
We have seen many of these that stop working even though a user has been
using it for quite some time after the announcement. Hotmail Plus is the
cheapest solution.

Thanks for the responses.

It appears to be working flawlessly with Outlook Express. So I believe the
issue is with Outlook. However no one not even MS support has been able to
shed any light on the problem.

I have one more avenue with support at Microsoft and if that does not pan
out I will discontinue use of Hotmail and just move all contacts and
subscriptions to my Gmail account which works perfectly with Outlook and is
free.

Thanks again for all the help,
James
