Accessing Hotmail via Outlook 2003

I've been able for months to access my Hotmail from
Outlook 2003. Just today it stopped working. I get a
message that reads "Task 'Hotmail: Folder: Inbox
Synchronizing Headers'. reported error (0x800CCCF6) : The
server responded 'Access to Hotmail via Outlook and
Outlook Express now requires a subscripiton. Please sign
up at http://upgrade.msn.com."

Has Microsoft now changed this so that you have to have a
paid subscription to MSN in order to access your Hotmail
from Outlook 2003?

Yes, they did. It went into effect Monday, and at this time, should only
affect accounts that are new or never used HTTP access before. Accounts that
previously used the HTTP protocol should have access until as late as spring
2003.

It is true that microsoft is cutting off free service to Hotmail and
MSN HTTP accounts in OUtlook and Outlook Express. However if you have
previously set your account up in OUtlook or Outlook Express then you
should still be able to use it, because the DAV restrictions on
existing accounts do not take place until 2005.

so i can access my msn hotmail through IE, but I can't access it through Outlook? That's bogus. For the record, I cannot use Outlook to access my msn hotmail account.

i will say that I love xp pro. i recommend upgrading to xp professional to anyone who hasn't.
