Using Excel 2000 and in one workbook that has about 20 worksheets (months of
the year). Each time I open the workbook it reverts back to a the same cell
and workbook regardless of where I ended and saved at last use. For
instance, I enter data in workbook May 04 and save . When I open Excel later
on, it opens to May 04 for about a second or 2 and then reverts to March 04
and always to the same cell in that workbook

How can I make the workbook open to the same cell and worksheet that had
focus when most recently saved.

Thanks

This is standard behaviour, so it maybe you have a macro that activates
March 04.

I think Bob meant that this is NON-Standard behavior.

And if you open the workbook with macros disabled, what happens?

Dave,

What I meant was that what the OP expects is standard behaviour<vbg>.

No macro's in the workbook. By cutting the data and pasting to a new
worksheet in the same workbook, the problem stopped. No idea why but it did
clear it up. Thanks

Ahhhhh, I see.
