Accessing Active Directory in W2K domain from W98

I have created a domain with W2k Advanced Server as DC.
There is a W2k/SQL server and an XP machine that all
belong to the domain. I have some W98 machines that I was
trying to get to run Active Directory Client (ADC). When
the W98 machine looks in Network Neighborhood, it sees the
domain and the W2k servers but not the XP machine.
However, when it looks at either server, it is confronted
with a login asking for a password for \\serverName\IPC$.
I have not been able to locate any info on how to set this
password on the server. When I try to set password by
accessing properties on the IPC$ share, it says that it's
properties are not accessible.

How do I get to any of the directories, if I don't know
the password?

Perhaps I don't understand what you can get access to when
using ADC. I can search people in Active Directory, but
don't seem to be able to get to any files.

Your Win98 machinse, do they login into the domain ? Have you set the domain
name in network proerties of Microsoft Network Client ?

Another possibility is "access the computer from the
network" userright. Should be set to everyone. If only
authenticated user's is there then this could be a problem.

On one of the machines I just installed the AD client.
After I posted, I tried to log onto the domain, and had a
conflict with some OEM dial-up sharing software.

I changed the logon for another W98 machine, and now it is
able to see the domain and the directories that are shared
on each machine. I'll try to install the AD client and see
what happens.
