One of our computers just died an ignominious death. We have replaced it
with a new unit (WinXP Pro) with MS Office Basic factory-installed. We need
to put Access on the machine. We have the Access 2000 installation disk &
code we purchased for the machine that died. Is there any practical reason
why we cannot/should not install the version we've already paid for on the
new machine?

e-mail replies would be appreciated ...

I just had to get new computers at work and also had Access2000 disk. I opted
to get new Access2003 because I think it may work better with WinXP Pro.
You mignt want to consider installing Access2000 that you have and get the
update to Access 2003. It is less costly than getting the full blown version.
I was going to do that, but would have to do it on 6 computers.
Good luck.

Nope, you're just fine. The software that you have legitimately purchased
can be used on any single machine. It does not matter which one. But if
you're mixing office versions, I would recommend making sure you install
your Access 2000 in a different directory from your Office 2003. Different
versions of MS Office products are notorious for stomping each other to
death if you install them in the same place.
