Access vs Vista Home Premium

On my pc and laptop I have MS Access 2.0, 97, 2000 and 2003, because I never
know which version my customers might be using. They all work well together
up to now but when I switched from Windows 2000 Pro to Vista Home Premium, I
get 2 recurring nightmare problems.
1 - Under Vista, Access keeps stopping without apparent reason. It says it
will find a solution but always reports back that it can't find one. Among
other times, I noticed this happening when copying a form design using Save
As. The same database will still work OK on the laptop under 2000 Pro.

2 - When my pc and laptop were networked [both using 2000 Pro] I now can't
do so, and databases on the pc get error messages "Can not access the data -
Network connection may be lost", and they are virtually useless because of
this.

Will someone with more hair than me PLEASE provide solutions to these ?
Many thanks in advance

You really haven't given us much to go on. Two things come to mind though:

1. This is a Vista problem, not an Access one, since it only happens under
Vista. It might be much more useful to look in one of the Vista newsgroups.

2. The most obvious solution, other than fixing whatever may be wrong in
Vista, is to revert back to what does work.

Did you upgrade the existing Win2K installation (is that even
possible, except from WinXP?) or did you do a clean install and then
re-install all your software? If you didn't do the latter, I'd
recommend that you do that. There is no reason that any of the
software shouldn't work (which caveats relating to security) or that
networking shouldn't work. So I suspect you've inherited something
from the old Windows installation.

No, this is on a new pc with Vista Home Premium ready installed, and all the
Access versions software installed in turn, as in previous installations that
did work OK.

As to Arvin Meyer's comment, I have 2 problems:
1 - I can't go back to Windows 2000 Professional, it's on a pc that's going
to charity, and it's too slow for my curent needs - hence the purchase.
2 - If I go to the Vista chat pages, will they say "It's an Access problem"

I'll try it ayway - nothing else to lose

If you had a retail version of Vista, you could use the license to install a
previous version. Unfortunately, an OEM version is limited in what you are
able to do with it.
2 - If I go to the Vista chat pages, will they say "It's an Access
problem"

They may, and they'd probably be wrong. I'm going to take a wild guess and
suggest turning off UAC and seeing if the added permissions alleviate the
problem.

I think from what I have read that your problem is real and that it is not
limited to the particular flavor of Vista that you have.

There is a new knowledgebase article that summarizes the state of the nation
here:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/935370/en-us

Let us pray for wiser heads to prevail and find a solution.

I too am concerned because I use Access as a consultant and intend to buy a
laptop which will obviously come with Vista. Not to helpful if I can't use
Access smoothly with it...:(

Good luck!
