Access vs. MDE

Does Access still allow an MDE to run on a machine without an access
installation?

I seem to recall that one used to be able to DL a utility from MS that would
allow an MDE to run on a client computer without Access installed.

AM I wrong?

There is a special version of Access available that will run the MDE's.
Of course it does not allow any design changes. It comes with the
developer's version (I forget what they call it now) and the license allows
it to go with and be used with MDE that are created with the original
developer's version.

Not really. There is a royalty free runtime available which you have
to install on the system. However it is still Accesses at it's core.

You have to purchase it. Microsoft Access (Office) Developer Edition

or of course; the ART installer IS on the Office 2002 and Office 2003
Professiional CDs. but that would be breaking their super-secret
squirrel licensing agreement; so proceed at your own risk
