access to MUTE

With C#, is there a way to programatically control the mute on a PC?
I would like to be able to turn it on and off via my application.

It has an example in VB6. You'll need to convert that to C# (P/Invoke)

them. Are are there any examples to affect the mute function on a
Windows XP box?
