I'm the sysadmin for a small school district with around 1,500 Windows
machines, and I'm testing Vista for us. On my test platform, I'm having a
problem that has existed since the earliest betas, and continues even with
the latest.
The issue is that access to networks beyond our own Intranet is EXTREMELY
slow. Like, slower than dialup. Everything works fine when I browse our Web
site, but once I go beyond out network the Web becomes just about unusable.
Traceroutes don't show any obvious problems; ping response times are normal.
Has anyone come across anything like this? Any ideas as to what the issue
might be? Some setting on our router that doesn't play well with Vista?
